The California Department of Motor Vehicles is getting a makeover. Today, more and more people, especially in urban communities, are getting away from the need to drive or even owning a car. Yet the need for the DMV has not diminished. This is because it represents more than just the ability to drive. It embodies the freedoms associated with adulthood, the romances of travel and, quite literally, gives residents a sense of identity. Open Road + will be a DMV franchise for local communities. The new aesthetics, brand, space, process and overall experience will finally be representative of the inherent qualities of the DMV.
Every neighborhood has a unique and distinct personality. By incorporating local flare and retail into each branch, Open Road + will serve as the identification of a local community. If the licence itself is an emblem of personal freedom, identity, and empowerment, Open Road + will do the same thing but on a much larger scale. The flagship location will be Open Road + Arts District, located at 542 S Santa Fe Ave in downtown Los Angeles.
